TOPCOAT® Ultra+
This coating is similar to TOPCOAT® ULTRA, however the plasma sprayed nickel-chrome based adhesive layer is replaced by an HVOF sprayed nickel based superalloy (TOPCOAT® 177). As a result the corrosion resistance and resulting operational reliability is improved. Typical applications are the same as those of TOPCOAT® ULTRA applications:
- Hydraulic parts, e.g. piston rods
- Plungers
- Components in the automotive industry
- Wear resistant sealing surfaces
- Wear resistant sleeve bearing surfaces

Used techniques
Plasma spraying
In a plasma spray gun a plasma gas is ionized between an anode and a cathode. The plasma reaches temperatures between 15,000 and 20,000°C. A coating powder is injected into the plasma jet by a carrier gas, where it melts before depositing on the…
HVOF spraying
When HVOF (High Velocity Oxygen Fuel) spraying fuel and oxygen are ignited. The flow of gas expands through a special nozzle and reaches a speed of more than 1,500 m/s. The coating powder is injected axially in the gas flow reaching extremely high…
