On the request of DuoTec, we provided 9 cylinder rods with a new ceramic TOPCOAT, a project realized in a short lead time. One of the most important requirements for the new ceramic TOPCOAT is to comply with the standards set by Rijkswaterstaat as outlined in the NBD10300. The NBD10300 norm is a set of technical standards established by Rijkswaterstaat for infrastructure projects.
These rods are part of the hydraulic cylinders used in the Grevelingensluis, a sluice located in the Grevelingendam near Bruinisse in the Dutch province of Zeeland. Rijkswaterstaat (Dutch department of Waterways and Public Works) is conducting a revision of the hydraulic cylinders in the Grevelingensluis due to their reaching the end of their lifespan.
Eight lock doors are undergoing revision, which includes the cylinders, buffers, and rotating points. The ninth cylinder rod serves as a spare. These components are crucial for the functioning of the sluice, as they facilitate the opening and closing of the lock doors.
Plasma spraying is particularly suitable for materials with a high melting point such as ceramic materials.
Our 'standard' TOPCOAT is our earliest developed coating and is applied since 1987.
